Just like anything in life we are all inspired by each other's creativity. This definitely relates to blogs as well. As my time of being a "blogger" goes on, I find myself continuously being inspired by Rachel Flock. She has helped me realize concepts I want to incorporate into my classroom and keeps me engaged the whole time I am reading her blog.

Highlight Posts
From her very first post her witty style drew me in, teaching me that writing does not have to be so formal. In that first post titled "Launching the Writer's Notebook" she posted the following picture. She goes on to talk about her personal relationship with her father and watching him read might be a lead cause of why she loves to read. She then applies that same idea to teaching writer's notebooks in real time with students. I had already agreed that having students see their teacher write will help them foster a love for writing and show it as an authentic process, but Rachel has put a funny twist on the topic.
Another post that stuck out to me was when Rachel showed her writing process using a sensory chart. The title of this post is called "Wrapping up Narrative Work" and it suck out to me because she used a method I did not relate to at all. The senses chart for me wasn't a method I connected to that great so it was great to see how Rachel made her story from that chart. It made me realize there are going to be a lot of methods that I may not connect to but my students might. Rachel also showed her entire writing process which showed the benefits of the method that I personal did not connect to and it showed how stories change so much overtime before being finished. It may evolve into something you never knew and that is what makes writing exciting.
How does she Inspire me?
Rachel is a person I have meet through class and have learned she has a way of saying her thoughts in such an authentic way that makes you want to listen. I think what I most relate to Rachel is her honestly. She inspires me to add such personal stories to my own life how she does continuously throughout her blog. When I first starting blogging I really wasn't sure what I was doing or how formal the writing should be. I first found myself writing a little "stiff" but overtime I realized that parts of my personality can come off in my blogging because it is creative writing.
Rachel's blog was extremely helpful to me as well. It was great to see our class readings through the eyes of someone who is going to teach students much older than I am. it just goes to show that any type of collaboration with educators can be beneficial.
Thanks for the shout out Megan! It was a welcome read this week. I can definitely see your honesty and sense of humor coming out the more you post on your blog. You really seem to be finding your voice as a writer!
Megan, I agree that Rachel's blogs are awesome! She does an awesome job of making her writing informative, yet she allows for humor. Her work has a unique combination of humor and professional writing!
